Catalysts Characterisation
Studying heterogeneous and homogeneous catalysts and catalytic reactions is one of MSG's important strengths. Elemental or molecular distributions and compositions at micro and macro-scale are determined, together with phase detail, morphology, particle sizes and finished catalyst strengths.
Full bulk chemical characterisation is possible at ultra-trace levels for the bulk of the Periodic Table. X-ray diffraction looks at phase change and crystallinity while, at the micro-level, optical microscopy and electron microscopy are used to look at shape and form, structure, phase and composition.
From examining precursors to the detailed characterisation of used catalysts we work to establish that the catalyst is as it should be. With in-situ capabilities to examine phase changes under process conditions and the ability to study elemental distributions and morphology in intimate detail, catalyst examination cannot be much more detailed. As for the catalyst in use, MSG can identify and quantify reactants, products and by-products using a range of separation science and spectroscopic techniques.
Essentially, over the catalyst life we offer Catalyst Characterisation from cradle to grave, giving vital information to the researcher, the producer, the user and the recycler of catalysts.
