Polymer Film - End group analysis and quantification of Terephthalic acid (TA)-Isophthalic acid (IPA) / Ethylene glycol (EG) based copolymers (PET) by Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR)
Solution state 1H NMR analysis has been developed to analyse TA/IPA/EG based copolymers for the type and quantification of end groups present, adding invaluable information to the characterisation of PET based homopolymers and copolymers.
This analysis can be performed on all mediums i.e. chip both amorphous and crystalline and in film form.
The types of end groups measured are hydroxyl, methyl ester, carboxyl and vinyl.
A distinct advantage is that all of the end group analysis can be measured on less than 1 gramme of sample being useful for research polymers where there may only be a limited amount of material available and at the opposite end of the scale if sample size is not a problem quality control for the business market.
The Intertek MSG NMR team have many years of experience of working with clients in the polyester industry on polymer process chemistry and polymer development
